Sustainability

International Paper is committed to the sustainability of our planet. We give top priority to our contributors’ health and safety and make sure each phase of our supply chain – from sourcing to manufacturing, distribution, sales and recycling – is carried out safely and responsibly. That includes a commitment to the communities where we work and live in order to manage our forests, facilities and businesses related in a responsible manner.

Chamex and Chamequinho printing and writing paper lines are 100% manufactured from the cultivation of certified Eucalyptus trees. The papers produced at International Paper are certified by Cerflor – Brazilian System of Forest Certification – and managed by Inmetro. Additionally, they are also internationally recognized by PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification), FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council) and Ecolabel Flower, recognized all over the European Union, accrediting the good environmental performance of industrialized products and services.

A certified product is a way to guarantee the quality and origin of the product purchased to consumers. International Paper products have an environmental management control process (ISO 14001), product quality management (ISO 9001) and Health and Safety Management System of the company (OHSAS 18001).

International Paper works for a better world for future generations. Through the International Paper Institute (IIP), programs and actions focused on education, environment and social well-being are developed and implemented in the communities where the company works, encouraging the development of social environmental awareness in thousands of children and adolescents. Approximately 30,000 people all over Brazil are impacted by the Institute’s projects and actions.
